Dr Jo Barton is a Reader in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Essex. She has led the internationally recognised ‘Green Exercise’ research programme for the past twenty years. Her green exercise research analyses the health and social benefits of nature-based interventions and how the environment shapes behaviours. She has authored many of the flagship research papers in this area, generated over £1 million in grant funding, and collaborated with more than 30 external charities and organisations evaluating projects.
