Rachel Shawe
Rachel is the Fundraising and Membership Executive at Leave No Trace Ireland, where she has coordinated the Love This Place public awareness campaign from 2021 through 2024, promoting sustainable outdoor practices across Ireland. In her role, Rachel focuses on corporate membership, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring the organization’s mission to foster environmental stewardship is supported by a diverse network of partners.
Rachel holds a Master of Science in Sustainable Resource Management: Policy and Practice from the University of Limerick and the National University of Ireland Galway, along with a Bachelor of Science in Earth and Ocean Science. Her professional experience spans project management, corporate relations, and strategic communications.
At ICOS+, Rachel will present on the SEE Project Toolkit, the result of three years of research and development led by Leave No Trace Ireland as part of the Sustainability and Environmental Education in Outdoor Sports (SEE) EU Erasmus+ project. Collaborating with nine partner organizations from across Europe, the project tackled challenges related to responsible outdoor recreation in outdoor sports. The SEE Toolkit, developed with contributions from over 100 stakeholders in outdoor sports, environmental protection, and land management, offers practical guidance and 70 good practice activities to help individuals and organizations promote sustainability and environmental stewardship in outdoor sports.
